Ep 119: Vernon Subutex by Virginie Despentes translated by Frank Wynne

Anna and Amanda discuss the Stella Prize winner, See What You Made Me Do by Jess Hill.

Our book of the week is Vernon Subutex 1 and 2 by Virginie Despentes translated by Frank Wynne. Virginie Despentes is a sensation in France and a ‘rock and roll Balzac’ (Times Literary Supplement).  The Vernon Subutex trilogy has been described as ‘the zeitgeistiest thing I ever read’ (Bustle), ‘a sprawling Parisian epic’ (New York Review of Books) and Volume 1 was shortlisted for the Man Booker International Prize.

Next up, The Girl Who Wrote Loneliness by Kyung-sook Shin translated by Ha-yun Jung and our isolation reading recommendations.
