Kate: You have been randomly selected as an ALA Top Friend for March 2007. We Salute You!
How cool is that?! I love librarians, they are the most underserved and uncelebrated peeps in the biz. They are also NOT unattractive, boring, or have a bad disposition, at least in my experience. In fact I have found plenty on Myspace who are cunning, sexy and loud. My friend and fellow Brooklyn Literary Council member, Jay Kaplan, is the Director of Programming and Exhibitions at the Brooklyn Public Library. Check out their monthly newsletter and their on-going exhibitions, they are wonderful.
Also, do folks know about FICTION_L and Publib? Both are websites/discussion boards/listserves for librarians by librarians. Chock full of info, these sites are full of ideas and lively discussion. They offer a virtual meeting ground to exchange information, receive support and aside, as a layperson watching from the sidelines, it’s such a pleasure to join the guessing game when a patron has a question and the answers need to come from a collectivist atmosphere.
